The REID OSPREY is a road bicycle that is perfect for social and competition cycling, tri-athletes, commuters, those looking to get fit and of course the budget-savvy cyclist. Bikes with similar components in retail stores such as the GIANT DEFY 4 are selling for $1000- $1100. It features a lightweight alloy frame and CARBON FIBRE FORKS with alloy 700c wheels. The gearing system uses SHIMANO 2300 GEARING. The 2300 gearing is SHIMANO'S latest road bike product that has replaced the 2200 gearset which is now outdated and no longer being manufactured.

The Shimano 2300 gear shifters are STI levers which means the brake levers click to the side to change gears. Bikes with this style shifters usually cost $1000+. Shimano is highly regarded as the world's best when it comes to quality bicycle gearing.

It is also fitted with lightweight alloy components such as cranks, brakes, seat post, stem and handlebars. Weighing only 10.2kgs it is more than capable of reaching great speeds socially or in competition.

It comes in 4 sizes (small, medium, large and extra large). The frame sizes are 51cm, 54cm,57cm AND 60cm.

We offer a 15 year warranty to give you that peace of mind. The bike also comes with a free pump and drink bottle and holder for added value.

WE ARE MORE THAN CONFIDENT THIS IS THE BEST VALUE ROAD BIKE WITH SHIMANO 2300 GEARING and CARBON FIBRE FORKS IN AUSTRALIA.

ALSO AVAILABLE WITH MAVIC AKSIUM WHEELS FOR JUST $690.

Customer Reviews:

"hi, just wanted give a review on the osprey. I needed a good entry level road bike to get started as i had back surgery last year and getting back into running was just not possible. the osprey has been a prefect bike to get into road cycling. its light, quick and it looks awesome too. most important was the fact that you get so much kit for such a good price. i'll be coming in for some new pedals, and maybe some aksium wheels in the next few months. cheers, paul, cammeray, nsw" (2nd April 2012)

"I bought my Reid Osprey in September 2011 as I was wanting an entry bike that had all the good specs. I really wanted a Shimano 105 groupset, but really couldn't justify the amount when all I really wanted was to get back into cycling (last rode in about 1993!) and I might actually drop the whole hobby in less than three months. Needless to say the Shimano set that came with the Osprey excelled all my expectations.

I'm happy to report that I bought a Reid Osprey, after loads of research and contemplation. I'm extremely happy with the bike - it has done exactly what I needed it to do and hasn't cost me a fortune to buy a Specialized, Colnago et al.

The best thing about Reid is that they can import a cheap bike for someone who might be thinking about getting back into riding or casual races. The Osprey only weighs 10kg, with carbon forks to boot.

I will admit that I have changed some things that I was accustomed to beforehand (Shimano 105 pedals, Cateye comp and Rolls saddle), but this is my preference and I do recommend the Rolls for yer butt!

If you're looking for an entry level ride, then I highly recommend the Osprey. No need to go all out and think you're the best rider in the world with your matching knicks and shirt. Just get out there and enjoy it and ignore all the bike snobs out there. Seriously, what's the difference to an elite cyclist when we're talking about 1-2kgs at 10% of the price?

My next upgrade will be the Falco, mark my words. TF - St Kilda VIC 3182." (13th March 2012)

"Hi,thanks for the opportunity to tell you how much i really enjoy my osprey.

today i entered my first duathlon and was thrilled to complete the course enjoying my new osprey along the way.
My bike looks the part and performs just as well.
I would recommend reid cycles to all who i come in contact with as i have nothing but praise for the osprey.
I chose the osprey for price, looks and colour and for its intention that being an extra to my running routine.
The osprey has been living at my house for 2 weeks now and i wonder what i did without it.
Thanks reid cycles for opening my eyes to the wide world of cycling.
regards Michelle O, Castlemiane vic." (11th March 2012)

"I just wanted to say what a great bike the Osprey is. I bought one with the wheel upgrade. I used mine in anger for the first time on Sunday in the BRW Triathlon at Elwood. It performed really well and made my job as the rider a lot easier. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a great road bike at a good price. David C (5th March 2012)
