Commuting is easy

Commuting is easy

Once upon a time, you had to be tough to be a bike rider. Jumping onto a classic ‘boneshaker’ bike or racing on a penny farthing made you a member of a very special breed of elite athlete. Not any more. These days, bike riding and commuting is for everyone.

Modern technology, improved designs and lightweight materials mean that bikes are easy and fun. You can now get a high quality bike with gears and all the other stuff you need for less than the cost of a car service.

One of the best ways to get into riding is commuting to work. It doesn’t have to be every day, or even the whole way. Once a month or once a week is a great way to start. Pick a nice day and cruise. Chuck your bike in the car and ride the last few kilometres. You’ll save money, save time and arrive at work with a big smile on your face.

It’s been shown that get a little low intensity exercise in the morning can make you more alert and more effective at work. It may also make you smarter, better looking and more charismatic, but we can’t prove that.

If you want to get into bike riding and commuting, a Reid Cycles package is a great way to start. You'll be able to get a commuting bike, with a helmet and all the other little bits and pieces you might need, for a surprisingly low price.

Here’s a few examples of great commuting bikes to start with:

Easy commuting: Reid Transit

Commutes including mixed terrain: Reid City 1 Hybrid Bike

Cross country commutes: Reid Urban X1 WSD
