Granite 1.0

Find your way to work each day and then get lost on the weekend.

Meet the new Reid Granite series.

Simply put, Gravel-grinders (AKA All-Road, Adventure Road or Dirt-Road-Racers) are like a CX (Cylcocross) bike built for Endurance riding. The features that make these bikes perfect for dirty distance racing across varied terrain also make them perfect for all-conditions commuting. Is your daily route to work as smooth as a dancefloor..? Neither is ours. Read on:

  • A lightweight 6061 Hydroformed Alloy frame and fork with front/rear rack and mudguard mounts plus extra clearance for up to 40C wide tyres. Getting to work or loading up for a weekend of bike trekking? The Granite has you covered.
  • Shimano 14-speed Tourney gearing with a 50/34 chainset and 12-32 cassette for a large range of gears.
  • Tektro mechanical disc brakes and Kenda 32C All-Road tyres provide superior stopping power even in the wet and mud.
  • Built to keep going – the Granite 1.0 runs on tough, lightweight Alex MD17 rims to give years of faithful service.

All this makes the bike not only suited for dirt road riding, but also perfect for the rigors of a daily commute (with the option of a bit of fun on the weekends thrown in). Believe the hype - these bikes are true all-rounders.

Our range of quality bikes also come with the industry leading Reid Lifetime frame warranty, 2 years warranty on parts and 12 months of free servicing to guarantee you get a great deal.

For online home delivery orders, bikes are shipped in a box 85% assembled and require some final assembly. For more information please see our shipping and returns page. Bikes purchased in-store are fully assembled and ready to ride.

FAQ

The bike looks great… but what exactly is a Gravel Grinder?

Think of it as similar to a CX (Cylcocross) bike built for Endurance riding that is also perfect for all-conditions commuting over distance.

TYRES

Gravel bikes run around a 35mm wide tyre (as opposed to your standard Road bike at 23-25mm). This helps protect against punctures, improves comfort in the saddle and they’ll also leave you less fatigued after riding along bumpy surfaces all day.

GEARING

Gravel creates more rolling resistance so these bikes get more emphasis at the lower end of the range. For the Granite we’ve chosen the latest Shimano 14 Speed A070 gearing with a 50/34 chainset and 12-32 cassette for solid all round performance.

FRAME

Both Gravel bikes and CX are built tough for harsh treatment, and feature clearance for the bigger tyres and front/rear rack mounts for bike trekking and loaded commuting.

Although similar to Cyclocross bikes, Gravel-grinders feature more relaxed geometry with a slacker head tube angle, a lower centre of gravity and longer tube lengths for a more comfortable ride over longer distances. Cyclocross bikes are designed to accelerate fast and corner quickly at lower speeds, but this can feel a bit ‘twitchy’ on endurance rides along wide open gravel roads.

If you’re looking for the ultimate commuting bike, the question you need to ask yourself is: Do I punch out lots of straight miles or do I ride shorter trips fast while dodging lots of traffic..? If the former, you’re in the right place. If the latter, check out our CX.

BRAKES

Most quality gravel-grinders feature disc brakes as they perform better in all conditions. If you’ve ever ridden to work in the wet, you’ll understand how this translates to a safer commute.

SHIPPING

Flat rate of $9.99 shipping is currently available to most of the Australian mainland (includes Tasmania). For postcodes ineligible for the $9.99 flat rate, Reid Cycles subsidizes shipping costs to help make shipping more affordable in remote and harder to access areas. For shipping to remote island locations, email customer service for an estimate on support@reidcycles.com.au .

  • Pick up in store options are always free for all products (for wait times and more information click here)

Subsidised Home Delivery

We offer a subsidised flat rate delivery of $9.99 for most of Australian and Tasmanian mainland. This means that the customer pays $9.99, and we cover the rest of the cost. However, in some regional areas, the cost of delivery can be very high – some upwards of $300. It is for these suburbs that we offer varying subsidised shipping rates based on zones. These zones are determined by your total shipping cost – and of this total cost, we subsidise $80.

  • E.g. If at checkout, you are in Zone 4, and your shipping comes to $99.99. This means, your actual cost of shipping was $179.99.

For each zone, there is a base rate of shipping. However, for every additional bike ordered, 50% of this base rate is added. In this case, it is likely we are subsidising more than the $80 and are only asking for part of the cost covered for the additional freight.

  • E.g. If you are in Zone 1 of the subsidised shipping areas, and order one bike, your base shipping rate is $49.99. If you order two bikes in the same order, your shipping will total $74.99. If you order a third bike, it will total $99.99.

Please note: there are a small number of suburbs that we don’t currently deliver to. This is because our service provider doesn’t service these areas. For further information, please contact support@reidcycles.com.au.

We do not ship outside of Australia. If you live overseas and would like to buy a Reid bike please visit our international website to view a list of retailers.

Assembly:

Remember that bikes are shipped boxed, and 85% assembled. The final assembly required includes the installation of the handlebars, front wheel, pedals and saddle, adjusting the brakes and tuning the gears. We recommend that the assembly is done by a qualified bike mechanic or another suitably qualified person. Damage caused by an incorrect assembly (such as installing the pedals the wrong way around) is not covered by your warranty.

Please see our 'How to guides' for assembly instructions if you do choose to assemble a bike yourself.

Delivery method:

It's always best to send to an address that always has someone in attendance. You may also want to give our courier an 'authority to leave' instruction. Only give us an 'authority to leave' if you're confident that the delivery will be safe. Otherwise, the courier can leave a 'sorry we missed you' card, allowing you to arrange re-delivery.

  • A lifetime Warranty on every Reid frame we sell (excluding our carbon fibre range)
  • A lifetime Warranty on all rigid forks (excluding our carbon fibre range)
