Electric Mountain Bikes open up the trails to more people like never before. Get more of the fun stuff and stay fresh for your favourite sections on Australia’s best value electric bike - the E-Trail 1.0.

", "\n

The undeniable benefits of these amazing bikes has driven a surge in popularity. Advances in battery technology have meant faster, smaller, more powerful units; while the motors have gotten smoother and more discrete.

\n

All that aside - as it becomes clear from the first pedal stroke - electric bikes are made for fun.

\n

The E-Trail 1.0 is a versatile cross-country/trail bike that is perfect for all types of off-road riding. Whether you want to explore the country by fire trail or blast some singletrack, the E-Trail will keep you moving.

\n

The E-trail 1.0 electric bike features a frame that is a lightweight double-butted 6061 hydroformed alloy with versatile trail geometry. Internal cabling keeps the wires tucked away and safe. A Suntour XCM 100mm travel suspension fork with hydraulic lock out gives smooth control over broken ground and enough bounce to soak up the hits.

\n

Powering the ebike is a light and unobtrusive Bafang 250 watt electric motor positioned in the rear hub. This keeps the centre of gravity low - for stable handling when descending on fast trails and when navigating technical climbs. The torque of the rear hub electric motor coupled with the Shimano 7 speed drivetrain will give you all the range you need for riding the full hill.

\n

The E-Trail 1 is powered by a high capacity and fast charging Samsung 36 volt 10.4 amp hour battery pack, internally mounted into the downtube of the frame. This elegant design really lets you feel the bike when riding.

\n

Choose your level up to 25km per hour on the handlebar mounted display unit, and power through up to 60 kilometres of assisted riding on a single charge.

\n

Tektro mechanical disc brakes give reliable stopping power and control. These well priced discs perform well in the mud and are easy for riders to maintain.

\n

Running on Alex MD17 double wall alloy rims and Kenda 27.5 x 2.35” tyres, this electric bike is ready to go.

\n

Our range of Electric Bikes all include the industry-leading Reid Warranty: lifetime on frame and rigid forks, 2 years on non-consumable parts, 1 year/5,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty on eBike system components and 2 free services within the first 12 months. We also offer our Online customers a 30 Day Test Ride to guarantee you get a great deal.

FAQ - Electric Bikes

\n

\n

Q. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BAFANG REAR HUB MOTOR?

\n

Rear hub electric bikes offer a more discrete, lighter, and more affordable choice. The major trade off is handling at speed or over broken ground. If you are primarily looking to cruise along roads and river paths on your eBike, this will not be an issue.

\n

Bafang are the largest hub motor manufacturer in the world with a huge presence in the Asian, European and US markets. The Bafang rear hub motor is light and unobtrusive, recharge time is quick and the range is good. Considering how affordable these systems are, a new eBike now makes a lot of sense for more people.

\n

Q. HOW FAST DOES AN EBIKE GO?

\n

Electric bikes in Australia are limited to 250w and will assist you up to 25km/hr - going faster than this is up to the effort of the rider. Any motor providing more power will be classified as a motorbike and must be registered and ridden by a licenced rider.

\n

Q. HOW FAR CAN I TRAVEL ON A FULL CHARGE?

\n

The range you can expect on a full charge depends on the weight of the rider, how much luggage you’re carrying, hills/terrain and the level of assistance or power setting you use.

\n

You can expect the Shimano Steps system to last over 100km on the highest assistance setting even with hills and extra weight (you can go up to 185km under ideal conditions). The Bafang and Ananda electric bike systems will cover a minimum of 70km.

\n

Q. HOW DO I CHARGE AN EBIKE AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

\n

Simply plug the charger into a standard wall socket at work or when you get home. To charge the Shimano Steps battery from 0% to 80% will take 2 hours, 100% in 4 hours. Most of the time though you’ll just need to top up rather than completely refill. Charging times are similar for the Bafang and Ananda systems.

\n

Q. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CHARGE?

\n

The Shimano Steps system uses a 418Wh battery. At 30c/kWh x 0.418kWh = 12.5c for a full charge. Costs are similar with the Bafang and Ananda systems.

\n

Q. CAN I RIDE IN THE RAIN?

\n

Yes, all of these units are sealed and made for all-conditions riding.

\n

Q. CAN I SWITCH OFF THE ENGINE AND RIDE IT LIKE NORMAL?

\n

Yes. Remove the battery pack and it will feel very much like a normal bike.

\n

Q. WHAT DOES ‘PEDELEC’ MEAN?

\n

The most popular electric bike system in Australia is the pedelec (or pedal assist) system. You ride a pedaled assisted eBike by pedalling as normal, while the electric motor adds power to each pedal stroke - flattening out the hills and getting you up to speed with much less effort.

\n

Q. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SERVICE MY EBIKE?

\n

We recommend your electric bike is serviced during the first 3 months of ownership as components bed in. Frequency of servicing after that depends on usage and what maintenance you choose to do yourself in terms of caring for the chain and other basic tasks. A regular rider who does not perform any maintenance may benefit from servicing every 6 months. Click here for more information on servicing.
