Meet the new flagship bike in our popular Granite family – the Reid Granite 4.0. With features like a custom carbon fork, and hydraulic disc brakes, this gravel bike will take anything you throw at it!
Simply put, Gravel-grinders (AKA All-Road, Adventure Road or Dirt-Road-Racers) are like a Cylcocross bike built for Endurance and all-terrain riding. The features that make gravel bikes perfect for dirty distance racing across varied terrain also make them perfect for all-conditions commuting.
The Granite 4.0 features a lightweight 6061 Double Butted Alloy Frame with Thru Axle & integrated luggage mounts. A custom carbon fork with front/rear rack mounts, mudguard mounts and extra clearance for wide tyres. Getting to work or loading up for a weekend of bike trekking? This gravel bike has you covered. The Granite 4.0 is the ultimate bike for dirty distance racing across varied terrain and also perfect for all-conditions commuting.
Shimano BR7070 Hydraulic Disc brakes make stopping a breeze, even in the toughest of conditions. Additional features like Continental Ultra Sport II 700 x 32C tyres and a CX Race Saddle keep you in control and in comfort at all times on this gravel grinder bike.
Our range of quality gravel bikes also come with the industry leading Reid Lifetime frame warranty, 2 years warranty on parts and 12 months of free servicing to guarantee you get a great deal.
Key Features
For online home delivery orders, bikes are shipped in a box 85% assembled and require some final assembly. For more information please see our shipping and returns page. Bikes purchased in-store are fully assembled and ready to ride.
The bike looks great… but what exactly is a Gravel Grinder?
Think of it as similar to a CX (Cylcocross) bike built for Endurance riding that is also perfect for all-conditions commuting over distance.
TYRES
Gravel bikes run around a 32-35mm wide tyre (as opposed to your standard Road bike at 23-25mm). This helps protect against punctures, improves comfort in the saddle and they’ll also leave you less fatigued after riding along bumpy surfaces all day.
GEARING
Gravel creates more rolling resistance so these bikes get more emphasis at the lower end of the range. For the Granite 4.0 we’ve chosen the latest Shimano 105 Compact groupset with an 11-32t cassette for solid all-round performance.
FRAME
Both Gravel bikes and CX are built tough for harsh treatment, and feature clearance for the bigger tyres and front/rear rack mounts for bike trekking and loaded commuting.
Although similar to Cyclocross bikes, Gravel-grinders feature more relaxed geometry with a slacker head tube angle, a lower centre of gravity and longer tube lengths for a more comfortable ride over longer distances. Cyclocross bikes are designed to accelerate fast and corner quickly at lower speeds, but this can feel a bit ‘twitchy’ on endurance rides along wide-open gravel roads.
BRAKES
Most quality gravel-grinders feature disc brakes as they perform better in all conditions. If you’ve ever ridden to work in the wet, you’ll understand how this translates to a safer commute. The rock star of the Granite 4.0 is the Shimano hydraulic disc brakes which offer phenomenal stopping power in all conditions.

Shipping
A flat rate of $19.99 shipping per bike is currently available to most Australian mainland (including Tasmania). For orders placed only containing parts and accessories, the delivery cost will be $9.99. For postcodes ineligible for the $19.99 flat rate, Reid Cycles offers subsidised rates to help make shipping more affordable to remote and harder to access areas. Click here for more information on subsidised rates and transit times.
Pre-Order
How do we know a bike is available for pre-order?
It's easy! Instead of seeing an 'Add to Cart' button on the product page, the button will read as 'Pre-Order'. It will also have text below the button with the estimated day of arrival at our Melbourne warehouse.
Is the estimated warehouse arrival date accurate?
After considering off all shipment processes and facts, we arrive at an estimated date. However, on occasion there may be factors outside of our control, which can cause subsequent delays - in which case, we will notify you accordingly.
What happens once my bike arrives at the warehouse?
Once it arrives, our warehouse team prepare your order and get this ready to send off with our delivery partners. This process generally takes 1-3 working days. Please allow 7-10 days to receive your order.
Pick Up In-Store
Collection from one of our stores is always free! When collected in-store, your bike comes fully assembled by an experienced Reid Cycles mechanic, adjusted, and ready to go. Once your bike is ready for collection, our store team will be in contact with you. Please allow 7-10 working days after purchase to receive communication that your bike is ready to be picked up. For more information, please click here.
Bike Assembly
Remember that bikes are shipped boxed, and 85% are assembled. The final assembly required includes the installation of the handlebars, front wheel, pedals, and saddle, adjusting the brakes, and tuning the gears. We recommend that the assembly is done by a qualified bike mechanic or another suitably qualified person. Damage caused by an incorrect assembly (such as installing the pedals the wrong way around) is not covered by your warranty. Please see our 'How to guides ' for assembly instructions if you do choose to assemble a bike yourself.

Bike Servicing
When should I get my bike serviced?
As a general rule of thumb, Reid recommends you get your new bike serviced after 6 weeks of riding for adjustments as parts bed in. Following this, it makes sense to at least get a service Pre-Summer and Pre-Winter.
How do I receive my two free services?
Reid Cycles offers all of our new bike customers two free workshop services within the first 12 months of ownership. These free services are for the original owner of the bike only. Redeem these services at your local Reid Store.
What is included in my free services?
Brake adjustment, Gear adjustment (front and rear), Lubricate chain, Tyres inflated to recommended PSI, Brake pad adjustment, Check and tighten bolts, Headset check and adjust, & Suggested maintenance report.
Which Reid stores offer workshop servicing?
All of our stores have a workshop to help with all your bike needs. Just make sure you contact the store in advance to book in.
