Osprey WSD

Introducing the Osprey WSD: an all-round Road riding performer specifically designed for Women.

The Osprey WSD is the first of our new generation of Women Specific Design (WSD) Road bikes and is the perfect fit for female riders looking for a long distance or fast, everyday use Road bike.

Most Road bikes are designed with a male rider in mind, yet the average female body has very different proportions which affect how a bike fits and feels. WSD is an approach to building bikes that starts from the ground up to better suit a female rider - from frame geometry to crank choice to all the touchpoints, everything is reconsidered to better suit a female rider.

Women specific features of the Osprey WSD:

  • WSD Geometry – we’ve designed a more compact frame and fitted a shorter stem that better suits average female proportions and centre of mass.
  • WSD Touchpoints – we’ve fitted narrower handlebars to better suit female shoulder width, and a wider saddle to suit female sit-bones.
  • Plus we’ve reduced the length of the crank arm to suit shorter riders and added a 25C tyre for improved comfort and grip without sacrificing speed.

The Osprey WSD offers the right balance between lightweight speed and a more upright, traditional Road riding posture to make it the ideal go-to bike for the regular rider who likes to fly. Combined with reliable, durable components and a light, stiff frameset – the 2016 Osprey WSD Road ticks all the boxes.

  • Lightweight alloy frame with internal cabling and a carbon fork. This bike gives a slightly more upright, traditional road riding position well suited to distance and touring.
  • The latest 16-speed Shimano Claris drivetrain is durable and reliable, with integrated gear and brake levers.
  • Alloy quick-release hubs with Alex double-wall alloy rims give you light, strong wheels.

Stepping up to the 2016 Reid Osprey will allow you to experience the speed and efficiency of a high-end road bike at a very affordable price. It's perfect for all-day epic rides, triathlons, hill climbing, training rides or even criterium racing. Its rear rack and mudguard mounts mean that you can easily set it up as a fast commuter or tourer.

The 6061 aluminium alloy frame comes in four sizes to give you a great fit. The frame is light, yet has excellent lateral stiffness for power in the sprints and the climbs. The carbon fibre fork provides a degree of vertical compliance to reduce road buzz while still giving precise handling.

The Alex double-walled aluminium alloy rims are light and strong. They're tough enough to suit an every day commuter, but light enough to enjoy long distance endurance rides or hill climbs. The lightweight alloy hubs are serviceable and adjustable for exceptional durability.

A 34/50 tooth crankset (front) with 11/30 (rear), combined with an 8 speed rear cluster, gives a wide, evenly spaced range of gears perfect for smashing hills. More smiles over more miles!

Shimano Claris shifters and derailleurs give outstanding reliability and performance. The Tektro dual-pivot alloy caliper brakes provide great stopping power, excellent modulation and easy adjustment. Integrated brake and gear levers (Shimano STI) means that you can brake and change gears without moving your hands from the hoods of the Drop Bars. Sealed bearings in the bottom bracket and a threadless 1-1/8" headset make for minimal maintenance.

The whole package has been chosen for maximum value, durability and performance.

For online home delivery orders, bikes are shipped in a box 85% assembled and require some final assembly. For more information please see our shipping and returns page. Bikes purchased in-store are fully assembled and ready to ride.

Areas with a shipping surcharge:

Shipping of bikes is currently a flat rate of $9.99 to most of the Australian mainland and Tasmania. Due to the high costs of postage and on-forwarding for large items to remote island locations, these areas will incur a surcharge (Reid subsidise all shipping but cannot cover it all in all cases). The surcharge will be applied to your cart during the checkout process.

For more information, please email our customer service team on support@reidcycles.com.au

We do not ship outside of Australia. If you live overseas and would like to buy a Reid bike please visit our international website to view a list of retailers.

Estimated dispatch & shipping times:

Orders for items that are currently in stock are usually dispatched within 1 to 2 working days (business days only). You'll receive an email with tracking information once the order has been dispatched. Delivery times can vary depending on the size of the items ordered, with bulky goods taking longer than smaller items. Please note, some orders may be subject to a security check prior to being dispatched which may cause a delay. The below delivery estimates are calculated from the time of purchase:

  • VIC: 3-6 business days
  • NSW: 4-7 business days
  • SA: 4-7 business days
  • QLD: 4-7 business days
  • NT, Nth QLD: 6-9 business days
  • WA, TAS: 7-10 business days

Pick Up In-store:

Collection from one of our stores is always free! When collected in-store, your bike comes fully assembled by an experienced Reid Cycles mechanic, adjusted and ready to go.

The store will receive your order, assemble your bike and give you a call within 2-5 days advising when your bike can be picked up. Whenever possible, we recommend collection in store.

Assembly:

Remember that bikes are shipped boxed, and 85% assembled. The final assembly required includes the installation of the handlebars, front wheel, pedals and saddle, adjusting the brakes and tuning the gears. We recommend that the assembly is done by a qualified bike mechanic or another suitably qualified person. Damage caused by an incorrect assembly (such as installing the pedals the wrong way around) is not covered by your warranty.

Please see our 'How to guides' for assembly instructions if you do choose to assemble a bike yourself.

Delivery method:

It's always best to send to an address that always has someone in attendance, such as a business address. You may also want to give our courier an 'authority to leave' instruction. Only give us an 'authority to leave' if you're confident that the delivery will be safe. Otherwise, the courier can leave a 'sorry we missed you' card, allowing you to arrange re-delivery.

Warranty:

  • A lifetime Warranty on every Reid frame we sell (excluding our carbon fibre range)
  • A lifetime Warranty on all rigid forks (excluding our carbon fibre range)
  • A 2-year Warranty on all Carbon Fibre products, suspension forks, Shimano components and Mavic wheelsets
  • A 2-year Warranty on all other non-consumable components
  • For our eScooters, we offer 1-year Warranty on any manufacturing issues/faults.
