Rapid Flatbar

If you're getting into commuting, fitness or just looking for a reliable, fun way to get around, you should take a very close look at the Rapid! Available in flat bar and drop bar models!

  • The Rapid Flat Bar is a fun, fast and frugal way to get riding for fitness and commuting!
  • The 14-speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain is durable, reliable and easy to use!
  • Quando quick-release hubs with double-wall alloy rims give you light, strong wheels.

If you decide to upgrade to a carbon fibre racing machine later, you'll still love the Rapid as a commuter, tourer, shopper or pub bike!

The aluminium alloy frame is light and stiff, while the steel fork gives vertical compliance for improved comfort, feel and durability. The shape of the bike puts you in a commanding, upright position for visibility of the road ahead and the traffic around you.

It has rear rack mounts, so you can easily install a rack to carry panniers, baskets or simply strap on your own bag. The threaded headset allows you to easily adjust the height of the handlebars as well. You can adjust it up to suit quick commutes and shopping runs or lower it for a more aerodynamic position for epic road rides. The frame comes in four sizes so you can get a perfect fit.

Bikes at this price point often feature an odd assortment of cheap, no-name components, but not the Rapid. We carefully chose a package of parts that gives the best reliability and performance, while still keeping the price ultra affordable. The 14-speed gears come from Shimano, the biggest name in bike parts. The dual-pivot brakes are from Promax, another big name. Dual-pivot means that instead of old-fashioned brake callipers that lever off the central bolt, the brakes lever off two separate pivot points, increasing the braking power, feel and control. It also makes it easy to maintain and adjust. The wheels are double-walled aluminium alloy, so they're light and strong. We've chosen Kenda road race tyres in a standard 25c size. This means that they're durable and fast-rolling, with plenty of grip and control. The chain comes from KMC, one of the biggest and most highly respected chain manufacturers in the world. Other key features include the sealed bearings in the bottom bracket for minimal maintenance and the quick-release hubs on the wheels.

The Reid Cycles Rapid is definitely the best value road bike in Australia under $300.

For online home delivery orders, bikes are shipped in a box 85% assembled and require some final assembly. For more information please see our shipping and returns page. Bikes purchased in-store are fully assembled and ready to ride.

Areas with a shipping surcharge:

Shipping of bikes is currently a flat rate of $9.99 to most of the Australian mainland and Tasmania. Due to the high costs of postage and on-forwarding for large items to remote island locations, these areas will incur a surcharge (Reid subsidise all shipping but cannot cover it all in all cases). The surcharge will be applied to your cart during the checkout process.

For more information, please email our customer service team on support@reidcycles.com.au

We do not ship outside of Australia. If you live overseas and would like to buy a Reid bike please visit our international website to view a list of retailers.

Estimated dispatch & shipping times:

You'll receive an email with tracking information once the order has been dispatched. • SA: 4-7 business days
  • QLD: 4-7 business days
  • NT, Nth QLD: 6-9 business days

Pick Up In-store:

Collection from one of our stores is always free! When collected in-store, your bike comes fully assembled by an experienced Reid Cycles mechanic, adjusted and ready to go.

The store will receive your order, assemble your bike and give you a call within 2-5 days advising when your bike can be picked up. Whenever possible, we recommend collection in store.

Assembly:

Remember that bikes are shipped boxed, and 85% assembled. The final assembly required includes the installation of the handlebars, front wheel, pedals and saddle, adjusting the brakes and tuning the gears. We recommend that the assembly is done by a qualified bike mechanic or another suitably qualified person. Damage caused by an incorrect assembly (such as installing the pedals the wrong way around) is not covered by your warranty.

Please see our 'How to guides' for assembly instructions if you do choose to assemble a bike yourself.

Delivery method:

It's always best to send to an address that always has someone in attendance, such as a business address. You may also want to give our courier an 'authority to leave' instruction. Only give us an 'authority to leave' if you're confident that the delivery will be safe. Otherwise, the courier can leave a 'sorry we missed you' card, allowing you to arrange re-delivery.

Warranty:

  • A lifetime Warranty on every Reid frame we sell (excluding our carbon fibre range)
  • A lifetime Warranty on all rigid forks (excluding our carbon fibre range)
  • A 2-year Warranty on all Carbon Fibre products, suspension forks, Shimano components and Mavic wheelsets
