Get up close and personal with the world around you with nothing but your bike - and some essentials of course!
David Rossi takes off on his adventure of a lifetime around Europe, touring through 8 countries, covering over 7500kms - all by bike. Follow him and his Reid Granite on the tour below and find out everything you'll ever need to know about bike touring.
David Rossi is a 33 year old cyclist born and bred in Adelaide. For the past 10 years he has lived in Newcastle with his wife Kristy and their son Emerson, working in IT and telecommunications. Most often found on two wheels, he’s either commuting to work by bike or out adventuring on the weekends. He recently completed the Tour Down Under Breakaway Tour - needless to say, he’s got some kilometres in the legs.
David’s an avid cyclist, passionate about doing good in the world while doing something he loves. He’s participated in numerous rides and tours to raise money for charity including the JDRF One Ride raising money for type 1 diabetes research. Last year he headed out on a tour organised by his wife Kristy along the Great Ocean Road. With 4-year-old Emerson in tow, they rode to raise money for Cure Cancer Australia. To date they’ve raised over $30,000 for Australian cancer charities through various fundraising efforts.
The Europe Tour
Never shy of a challenge, David is taking his cycling adventures to new hemispheres. In June 2016 he’s headed overseas to start an epic 7500kms he calls the scenic route from the United Kingdom to Italy.
Beginning in Glasgow, Scotland, he will take 3 months to reach Naples, Italy. The journey will see him travel through the beautiful countryside of the United Kingdom, the cosmopolitan hub of Paris, France, up into the gorgeous Netherlands, all the way out to eastern Germany and back through the Czech Republic. Next stop will be stunning Switzerland, then the south of France before making a pitstop or two in sunny San Sebastian and Barcelona, Spain. Heading back through Monaco, he will reach the top of Italy before making his way down to Naples.
For an adventure of the incredible kind, up for this challenge is the Reid Granite. More than just a road bike, this gravel grinder designed with endurance geometry is built to withstand anything this tour can throw at it.
