Australia’s best value full suspension Mountain Bike - the Horizon 1.0 FS - is an instant confidence booster so you can rip faster on more difficult trails.

Full suspension mountain bikes soak up the bumps so your tyres stay planted to the trail instead of being bounced out of contact. Yes, it’s more comfortable, but the real benefit comes from the increased control when pushing your riding.

The Horizon 1.0 FS 29er is a versatile cross-country/trail bike that benefits from the high end technology driving the advance of Mountain Bike riding.

The Horizon 1.0 FS mountain bike frame is a lightweight double-butted 6061 hydroformed alloy with modern trail geometry. The rear suspension is a tried and tested four-bar linkage design which allows the rear to work independently of braking for improved control when flying down a trail. A Suntour XCM 100mm travel suspension fork with hydraulic lock out gives smooth control over broken ground and enough bounce to soak up the hits. Coupled with a Raidon R at the rear, this is a balanced mountain bike tuned for flow.

Tektro M285 Hydraulic Disc brakes deliver reliable power and control in all conditions and when riding at high speeds. This value priced full-suspension 29er mountain bike is made for going fast and the Suntour XCM crankset and Shimano Acera 3 x 9 speed gearing gives plenty of range for steep descents and climbs.

The 29 x 2.1” Kenda Small Block 8 tyres are a proven favourite for all-round trail riding. Fast rolling on hard dirt surfaces and with good contact over a wide area for railing berms at speed.

Key Features:

  • Tough and lightweight double-butted 6061 hydroformed aluminium alloy frame with four-bar linkage rear suspension design. Features modern trail/cross-country (XC) geometry for improved trail performance.
  • Suntour XCM 100mm travel suspension fork with hydraulic lock-out for efficiency on the climbs and cushion on the descents.
  • Raidon R rear suspension for a balanced bike tuned for flow.
  • Upgraded Tektro M285 Hydraulic Disc brakes for reliable stopping power and modulation control in the dirt and in the wet.
  • Suntour XCM crankset and Shimano Acera 3 x 9 speed gearing for a wide range.
  • Finished with lock-on grips and Kenda Small Block Eight tyres.

    Reid Horizon 1.0

What do I think about the Reid Horizon 1.0.

standing back and looking at the bike standard it looks like a well finished off outfit. Being a budget duel suspension bike.

There are things such as the ability to lock out the rear which is not available and maybe a one by drive train would be a better option than the outdated triple set up the bike comes with. However for a budget bike it ticks the boxes if you want to go out and your not worried about how it’s going to look after a few rides. It will handle everything you throw at it. The frame is solid all be it a little heavier than bikes a few 100 more from online suppliers with budget components where you will get rear lock out and a one by system. The paint is a Matt finish and doesn’t hold up well, it’s easily scratched and chipped. In fact this bike is the second bike as the first frame was scratched from the store before I even rode it so bike was swapped out for a new one. Only to have the drink bottle holder stud twisting in the frame so a new stud had to be fitted, but when the bottom bracket was removed to get the old stud out the frame it was scratched. So covering the frame around the the chain stays is very important. My bike has ride wrap on all the areas where your likely to see chips etc so hopefully the frame can stay in good condition for it’s life with me. The stock tyres are not at all great if you want to smash the down hill trails so upgrading them is a must but if your planning on using it for more…
