The Urban + Ebike WSD is the perfect fit for female riders looking for a tough, lightweight, reliable everyday Ebike. Read our FAQs for more on Women Specific Design and what it means for fit and your riding enjoyment.

With the new Urban range, Reid and Shimano Steps deliver a sleek and cleverly designed Ebike package to answer all the challenges of riding around your city or heading out on touring adventures. Designed for a modern, understated look and powered by the latest Shimano Steps 6000 Series mid-mount electric motor system, these eBikes are ready to go.

Ebikes use a battery powered motor to give you pedal-assistance up to 25km/hr to help you ride further, with less effort so you can get there faster and in better shape.

              • ABOUT EBIKES – FAQ

Most bikes are designed with a male rider in mind, yet the average female body has very different proportions which affect how a bike fits and feels. WSD is an approach to building bikes that starts from the ground up to better suit a female rider - from frame geometry to all the touchpoints, everything is reconsidered to better suit a female rider.

Tough and fast like the rest of the Urban range, at the heart of this bike is a more compact frame with a lower step-through style top tube and a shorter stem to better suit average female proportions and centre of mass.

Choosing a mid-mount motor design keeps the centre of gravity low for more predictable handling, especially over broken ground. The Shimano Steps E6000 system is a rugged, weatherproof performer from an industry leader that will reliably get you where you need to go - no matter the conditions.

                      Q. HOW FAST DOES AN EBIKE GO?

Ebikes in Australia are limited to 250w and will assist you up to 25km/hr - going faster than this is up to the effort of the rider. Any motor providing more power will be classified as a motorbike and must be registered and ridden by a licenced rider, and will not be allowed on bike paths or lanes.

                        Q. HOW FAR CAN I TRAVEL ON A FULL CHARGE?

The range you can expect on a full charge depends on the rider, how much luggage you’re carrying, terrain and the power setting. Under standard commuting conditions you can expect a range of 125km in Eco mode or 85km in Full Power mode from the Shimano Steps system.

                          Q. HOW DO I CHARGE AN EBIKE AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Simply plug the charger into a standard wall socket at work or when you get home. To charge the battery from 0% to 80% will take 2 hours, 100% in 4 hours. Most of the time though you’ll just need to top up rather than completely refill.

                            Q. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CHARGE?

Around 12.5c for a full charge (at 30c/kWh).

For all new bikes we offer FREE servicing for 12 months, lifetime warranty on frame and forks and 2 years warranty on parts.
