The X-Trail 29er is a rock solid ride for cross-country and trail riding. From groomed trails to rugged single track, the X-Trail is primed to deliver speed, control and reliability for an unbeatable price. Also available in a 26" wheel model.

  • Suntour XCT 100mm travel suspension fork with hydraulic lockout and preload adjustment
  • Mechanical disc brakes for all-conditions control
  • Shimano Altus 24-speed gearing

The 29-inch wheel size means that the X-Trail 29er is an easy bike to love, with the bigger wheels ready to roll over obstacles that would slow the smaller wheels of conventional mountain bikes. Flick the mechanical lock-out, and the Suntour XCT 100mm travel fork becomes rigid, ideal for fast climbs and hard sprinting. When the trail points down, powerful mechanical disc brakes, 24-speed Shimano Altus gearing and 2.10" tyres you power and control.

If your bike needs to be able to do double-duty as a commuter, the X-Trail is ready for that too. With the option to add mudguards and a rear rack, plus an commanding riding position, the X-Trail is just at home in the urban jungle. We have a range of mudguards and pannier racks to suit our mountain bikes.

Mountain bikes cover the most diverse terrain, which is why they need a wide range of gears and powerful brakes. The mechanical disc-brakes are easy to adjust and maintain. They offer improved modulation, heaps of stopping power and longer brake pad life.

The other critical component is the wheelset. They have to be strong enough to handle the thumps and bumps of off-road life, but light enough to allow riders to climb strongly. The X-Trail wheelset matches tough alloy Alex DH-17 double-walled rims with stainless steel spokes and KT quick release hubs. This makes up a light, robust and reliable wheelset. Shod in off-road tyres, the X-Trail is ready to keep the power down over loose terrain and maintain a smooth line through the berms.

At this price, the X-Trail is a great value, no nonsense, no excuses package. It has everything you need as a weekday workhorse, or a weekend warrior.

NOTE: This bike features disc brakes. All disc brake pads need to be “ridden in” to deglaze and align the pad before they will operate at their best.

Customer Reviews

Best purchase ever Review by Derek
I've had my bike now for about 8 months and have been riding it almost every weekend. The disc brakes took a little while to ride in but I can now notice a difference. The guys at the Fortitude Valley store in Brisbane have been great with any questions I've had and they have been great when I've had a problem. I've always loved riding and now I have a great bike I can just enjoy my weekend rides. (Posted on 27/04/2016)
Great Value Review by BEEGEE
Bought this bike a month ago. Done many hours on it with no problems. Excellent value, great service from Adelaide store. Only gripe would be the breaks, need a little more power when going hard. Could do with hydraulics like the Xenon. (Posted on 17/03/2016)
Happy Happy Review by Reds
Love my 29er. There are a few minor bugs which needed ironing out. But a great value for money bike that does what I expect it to do and a bit more.
This is the 3rd Reid bicycle in our family.... the eldest is now 5 years old, all 3 are doing great so far.

Awesome product Review by Adrian
I said it when I bought this bike, how can you do it so cheaply? I just did the 100k ride for refugees on this bike, stock standard from the shop floor and it worked flawlessly. Even with the standard nobbly tyres it was easy to ride the distance. I have only had this bike for 2 weeks, but I have fallen for it in a big way. (Posted on 31/08/2015)

Great bike Review by Mag093
So far great bike. Still running brakes in but will be a great entry step back into cross country mtb after 10 years away. Only down side was chain was skipping when picked up from in store but easy 10 min adjustment. still overall great bike, great service, no fluffing around like the chain store sales people. Also shopped at both brisbane stores before buying and received the same advice from both shops when selecting between the 29er and 26" wheels. Thanks guys! (Posted on 25/01/2015)

Reid Cycles ships bikes, parts and accessories anywhere in Australia!

Free shipping of bikes is available to most metropolitan and some regional areas. We also combined shipping wherever possible to keep the price down. Once you have one or more items in your cart, view your cart, pop your postcode in and we'll give you the combined shipping price. We are currently unable to ship to overseas addresses, please contact our customer services team to enquire about distributors in your area.

We aim to keep the price as low as possible by shipping smaller items for free if they can be shipped with larger items. Helmets, shoes and parts most often ship for free with your new bike!

Remember that bikes are shipped boxed, and 85% assembled. The final assembly required includes the installation of the handlebars, front wheel, pedals and saddle, adjusting the brakes and tuning the gears. We recommend that the assembly is done by a qualified bike mechanic or other suitably qualified person. Damage caused by incorrect assembly (such as installing the pedals the wrong way around) is not covered by your warranty.

Orders for items that are currently in stock are usually despatched within 1 to 2 working days. You'll receive an email with tracking information once the order has been despatched. Certain periods of the year are seasonably busy, with much higher volumes than normal. At these times, we still aim to despatch within 1 to 2 days, but deliveries may take a little longer due to our couriers' workload.

It's always best to send to an address that always has someone in attendance, such as a business address. You may also want to give our courier an 'authority to leave' instruction, which is an instruction to say that there is a safe place leave to delivery, even if there is no one there to take delivery. Only give us an 'authority to leave' if you're confident that the delivery will be safe. Otherwise, the courier can leave a 'sorry we missed you' card, allowing you to arrange redelivery.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

In Store Collection in one of our stores is always free! Your bike comes fully assembly, adjusted and ready to go. You can order online for pickup in store.
