Important Update
Due to rapid changes in regulation around the sale and usage of Electric Bikes in NSW, we have taken the decision to temporarily pause the sale of eBikes to New South Wales customers.
All other states and territories remain unaffected by this change and we will fulfill orders as usual.
Why can't we sell eBikes in NSW right now?
It's not just Reid Cycles - nobody can.
As part of the rapid overhaul of eBike regulations in NSW, NSW Fair trading requires the full test report for each model - not just the certificate of compliance (which attests to the standards compliance). NSW is now the only jurisdiction in the world requiring this complete test report and producers have not previously been asked to share this information. It will take time to get all information required.
Because our first priority is always the safety and satisfaction of our riders, we are doing everything within our power to comply with these new requirements and all other eBike rules.
This change has affected the entire bike industry. If you are able to purchase an Electric Bike for delivery to NSW from another retailer it is likely they are ignoring this standard. All retailers selling eBikes in NSW should be able to produce a copy of the full test report for the model being sold. Failure to do so contravenes NSW Fair Trading rules.
If you live anywhere else in Australia, you are completely unaffected by this change. We are still shipping our full range of eBikes to all other states and territories as usual.
While this regulatory pause in NSW is a hurdle for the industry, we refuse to take shortcuts. We are doing everything necessary in this space to ensure you don't experience any issues with your new bike.
