Built for long rides that can lead anywhere - the Granite gravel grinder bike range is popular with all kinds of riders looking for a fast and durable do-it-all rig.
Simply put, Gravel-grinders (All-Road, Adventure Road or Dirt-Road-Racers) are like a Cyclocross (CX) bike built for Endurance and all-terrain riding. The features that make these bikes perfect for dirty distance racing across varied terrain also make them perfect for commuting in all conditions. Whether it’s a rough commute in the wet or a weekend off-road exploration, the Granite gravel bikes range is made tough to perform in all conditions.
Built around an alloy frame and fork with durable parts chosen to keep the weight down, the Granite 1.0 is your affordable entry into the exciting category of gravel grinders. The bike is designed with comfortable endurance geometry. With extras like front/rear rack and top-tube mounts, you can set this bike up for commuting, touring or off-road racing.
The Granite 1.0 now also features internal cable routing to keep everything neat, and enable you to safely and easily pick the bike up for sections you need to hike over. Internal cables have also allowed us to add even more mounting points under the downtube for luggage and drink bottles.
Proven Shimano A070 2x7 compact gearing gives you a wide range of options to cover everything from high speed descents to tough dirt-road climbs. Made to ride no matter what the weather looks like, the Granite 1.0 gravel bike features Tektro mechanical disc brakes that give unmatched performance in the wet at a value price-point. With wide 40C Kenda all purpose tyres on double-wall alloy rims, quick release hubs, flared oversize gravel handlebars and a comfortable Selle Royal saddle - this bike is full of smart choices and built to give years of faithful service.
- Lightweight 6061 hydroformed alloy frame and fork with integrated headset, sleek internal cables and plenty of rack mounts including on top tube and under downtube.
- Shimano 14-speed A070 gearing with a 50/34 chainset and 12-32 cassette for a simple setup with a large range of gears.

FAQ - Gravel & Cyclocross
WHAT IS A GRAVEL GRINDER?
Think of it as similar to a CX bike built for Endurance riding that is also perfect for all-conditions commuting over distance.
Gravel bikes typically run a 32-35mm wide tyre (as opposed to your standard Road bike at 23-25mm). Depending on the intended purpose of the bike, these tyres can often feature a small tread for traction in the dirt. These larger tyres help protect the rim against damage, reduces punctures, improves comfort in the saddle and they’ll also leave you less fatigued after riding along bumpy surfaces all day.
Gravel creates more rolling resistance so these bikes get a little more emphasis at the lower end of the range. Durability of moving parts is also key for Gravel bikes given the rough conditions they are made to ride in - our gearing choices reflect this consideration.
Both Gravel and CX bikes have strong frames and forks that are built tough for harsh treatment. The bikes feature clearance for the bigger tyres and any mud, and plenty of front/rear rack mounts for bikepacking, touring and fully loaded commuting.
Although similar to Cyclocross bikes, Gravel-grinders feature more relaxed geometry with a slacker head tube angle, a lower centre of gravity and longer tube lengths for a more comfortable ride over longer distances. Cyclocross bikes are designed to accelerate fast and corner quickly at lower speeds, but this can feel a bit ‘twitchy’ on endurance rides along wide-open gravel roads or long regular commutes.
Most quality gravel bikes feature disc brakes as they perform better in all conditions. If you’ve ever ridden to work in the wet, you’ll understand how this reliable power and control translates to a safer commute.

Buy One, Plant One
Since January 2020 we have partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to donate enough money to pay a local person a fair wage to grow, plant and guard to maturity 1 native tree for every bike we sell.
We've now planted more than 200,000 trees and counting.

I bought Reid's Granite 1.0 Gravel bike during lockdown in September 2021. It is an excellent entry level gravel bike. The lightweight alloy frame, relaxed geometry and 32C tyres are ideal for longer gravel rides, road rides, or inner city commuting. Reid Cycles are a great Australian bike store who offer a unique alternative to the bigger brands, and have great customer service.Value for moneyRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5Component qualityRated 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5

Alright, let me tell you about my Granite Gravel Bike This bike is my ride-or-die, my partner in crime, my two-wheeled wonder.
Firstly, it's a stunner. The sleek grey finish is a head-turner, and I've lost count of the number of compliments I've received. But it's not just a pretty face - this bike can handle anything. City streets, off-road trails, you name it, the Granite has got it covered.
The gear range is fantastic, making every ride smooth and enjoyable. And the brakes? Top-notch. They've saved me from a few close calls, that's for sure.
But the best part? The comfort. I've spent hours on this bike, and not once have I ended a ride feeling anything but exhilarated. It's like this bike was made for me.
In short, the Granite is more than just a bike. It's my freedom, my joy, and my greatest adventure. If you're looking for a bike that's as fun as it is reliable, look no further.Value for moneyRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5Component qualityRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5
