Cycling has countless benefits and a lot of us ride for different reasons. Many of us ride for health reasons, others ride for the economic benefits, and some of us just cycle to get from point A to point B.
One thing we all have in common as cyclists is that nothing beats the joy we get from riding a bike outside and that feeling of fresh air on our faces. As bike riders we innately have a love for nature. How could we not? We want to protect where we ride and preserve the feeling of riding outdoors for future generations of cyclists.
Here at Reid Cycles, we couldn’t agree more! Life experienced in nature makes us healthier, more mindful and focused. Our philosophy is that cycling is one of the best ways to protect nature and is one of the most sustainable modes of transportation. In fact, it is proven that cycling has a massive environmental impact.
Here are 5 substantial impacts you will have on the environment if you decide to cycle:
- Cuts down on greenhouse gas emissions
- Reduces noise pollution and congestion
- Reduces air pollutants
- Reduces the need for new roads and parking lots making room for more green spaces
- Reduces your ecological footprint
The environmental impacts of cycling are great but for us here at Reid, we want to take our sustainability that next step further. Starting in 2020, we have committed ourselves to planting a tree for every bike sold!
Tree’s are a vital part of our ecosystems. Planting trees helps us protect biodiversity, reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change.
To make this a reality, we have partnered with Eden Projects; a non-profit whose mission is to provide fair wage employment to impoverished villagers as agents of global forest restoration. They hire the economically impoverished to grow, plant, and guard the maturity of native forests. Their “employ to plant” methodology results in a multiplication of positive socio-economic and environment measures.

So what are you waiting for? Jump on a Reid bike today! Together as cyclists, we can preserve what we love most and combat climate change.
Happy cycling,
Reid Cycles Team
